1. Small Butt Deadly Campaign

Small Butt Deadly is an campaign we launched to create awareness of the countless vapes and cigarettes butts that were left abandoned in our lovely village Adare and were working on ways in stopping people from throwing the vapes and cigarettes on the ground as they can harm the environment through pollution.

Colouring competition

ATT is working with the students in the 4 primary schools in Adare to help to educate them about the work and scope of Tidy Towns. We have launched a colouring competition with them to come up with a name for our Mascot. The colouring sheet also helped to spread the word that vapes and cigarettes shouldn’t be thrown on the ground and instead they should be disposed of correctly and safely. The students will also be given a large cut out of our Mascot to decorate. We will use this mascot to promote Tidy Towns actions in the coming years.

Over 500 students participated in this event. We displayed the children’s drawings around the village to show the amazing work of our community and younger generation and older generation working together.

Launch video

We also had a launch video made for this event to announce the colouring competition.

Winning Name

Here are some of the many coloured sheets. The winning name is Darog meaning ‘Little Oak’.

2. Community Talks (Interviews for Awareness)

The student and content creator filmed interviews to create more awareness of we do. They are also helping out with our social media and improving it so it some engaging.

With his help, he created a Facebooks group for our members and locals that use Facebook so they can updated with upcoming events and news that takes place. This is ideal as we’re more popular on Facebook.

Some interviews are done are in snippets before showing the full interview. This creates more awareness of we do and allow us to be recognised online too.

Check out the short snippet here.

This is also available on our social media.

3. St. Patrick’s Day Parade Clean-Up

We are delighted to play our small part in the @adareparade 2025. It was an absolutely brilliant day and thanks to the parade committee and volunteers for making sure today was a huge success for @adarevillage .

4. TLC – Team Limerick Clean-Up

We have been working along with Team Limerick Clean-Up.

Team Limerick Clean-Up (TLC) is an annual county-wide initiative that encourages community involvement in a one-day clean-up every Good Friday. Founded in 2015 by JP McManus, Helen O’Donnell, and Paul O’Connell, TLC has become Ireland’s largest one-day clean-up event, uniting volunteers across Limerick City and County.

Each year, thousands of volunteers participate in TLC, collecting litter and enhancing the cleanliness of streets, parks, and neighborhoods. The event fosters community spirit and environmental responsibility, with volunteers often gathering for post-clean-up refreshments to socialize and reflect on their efforts.

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, TLC will take place on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. The event’s co-founders expressed excitement about reaching this milestone, highlighting TLC as a wonderful opportunity for people across Limerick to connect with neighbors and make new community bonds. They also noted that the growing popularity of TLC has led to an increasing number of volunteers each year.

5. RTE Nationwide Coverage

We’ve be on RTE Nationwide in April about the 10 year anniversary of Team Limerick Clean Up (TLC) and how Adare Tidy Towns helping out with TLC and our other project and events. This allowed us to meet as a community while working to improve the park by planting new plants and so on.

6. Social Meet Ups

After completing weekly clean ups we have meet again for a break and treats in a café and other places in Adare village to socialise and have a nice time as a community. All volunteers are welcome.

7. 2GoCups Launch

We have 14 businesses in Adare implementing 2GoCups in Adare with community commitment.

SINGLE-use paper cups are being ‘ditched’ by one Limerick business community, a transition described by the Mayor as “essential”.

Businesses in Adare are ditching single use paper cups for reusable 2GoCups, to embrace sustainability and the circular economy.

A reusable cup rental scheme is being rolled out across the village and a new Adare Green Business Hub was launched by the Mayor of Limerick, John Moran.

2GoCups are in some participating locations across the country, with 13 in Limerick and one in Newcastle West. Adare is the latest addition to the scheme.

The 2GoCups are €2 and are filled with your drink of choice by your local café. They can be brought back and reused or returned.
