Thatching Roofs

Adare Cottage getting a fresh thatched roof means that the traditional roofing made of straw or reeds is being replaced or restored. This is a common practice in places like Adare, a heritage village in County Limerick, Ireland, known for its picturesque thatched cottages. The roofs are being thatched by using natural materials.

Why it’s being done

  • Maintenance: Thatch needs to be replaced every 20–30 years, depending on the material and weather conditions.
  • Preservation: Adare is famous for its historic charm, so keeping the cottages in top shape preserves their cultural and visual appeal.
  • Weatherproofing: A fresh thatched roof improves insulation and keeps the interior dry and warm.

Cleaning the Water Fountain

Our water fountain was once lovely though it later got dirty overtime. We cleaned the fountain in the centre of the village and worked on the cleaning the drain as it had a lot of algae and other deposition. This helps to make the fountain work once more and bring more life to the village.
