Set aside area to allow grass to grow Hazel, Birch & hawthorn hedge
Houses in Abbey View receiving upgrades and extensions.
Places include:
- Manor Court & Abbey Ville
- Desmond Drive
- Blackabbey Gate
Manor Court & Abbey Ville sit side by side each other on Station Road and have benefited from the upgrades on Station Road with new footpaths to the entrance of the estates. They are well manicured estates and we will continue to encourage them to improve biodiversity in these areas.
Desmond Drive is the oldest Council built estate in Adare and residents are working hard to keep the estate looking well. The grass is cut by LCCC contractors. The residents are working with LCCC to prevent parking on the footpaths as this is a problem here and is creating a hazard for the elderly residents in the estate.
Blackabbey Gate is a relatively new estate and has a vibrant and engaged residents committee. The resident committee has provided a report to include with this years’ application. The adjudicator asked that the tree protectors be removed from the trees at Blackabbey gate so this was carried out. The residents of Black Abbey Gate won a commendation award at the Going for Gold Estates competition and won €500 in prize money which followed a grant of €500 which they had received earlier in the year from Going For Gold. The grant and the prize money was put into great use with new planting done this year.
Among the projects that are in progress in Blackabbey Gate are:
Wildflowers: 5 areas of wildflowers were planted using wildflowers seeds provided by Adare Tidy Towns.
Trees: Around 3 apple trees and 1 oak tree planted.
Recycling: Compost pit and garden waste area is being developed.
