The main reason for setting up our Wildflower areas is to increase the Naive Irish Bee population in Adare and Adare Tidy Towns look forward to watching this happen as the years roll on. There are 101 bee species in Ireland currently out of which nineteen of these are bumblebees, and more than half of these Bumble Bee species are in decline. Most of the other 81 bee species in Ireland are solitary i.e. not colony forming.
Adare Tidy Towns will be on the lookout for these native Irish Bees and hope to see their numbers increase as the Wild Flower areas establish over the years. There are many more Bee species than listed below and we will add to our list as the years pass.
